The deputy governor of Ekiti State, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, has emerged candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ahead of the state governorship election scheduled for July14.
Olusola, who is the anointed candidate of Gov. Ayodele Fayose amassed 1,191 votes as against 771 votes of his closest rival, Prince Dayo Adeyeye.
Moment before the election got under way, Senator Biodun Olujimi withdrew from the race urging her supporters to cast their votes for Adeyeye.
“I’m very much satisfied with the process and by the grace of God whoever wins, we are going to support whoever emerges,” Adeyeye was quoted as saying after casting his vote.
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State was the chairman of the electoral committee.
