Bashir El-Rufai, son of ex-gov, Nasir El-Rufai, has accused his father’s successor, Uba Sani, of financial impropriety bordering on converting money accruing to the state monthly, from the Federal Account Allocation Committee, FAAC, to dollars.
Recall that report had linked the underperformance of the naira against the dollar partly to alleged ways of some governors verging on purportedly converting their states’ monthly allocations to dollars at the parallel market for self aggrandizement.
The dirty Forex business was levelled against the Kaduna governor after he said at a town hall meeting on Saturday that his administration is incapacitated by a huge debt burden of $587 million, N85 billion and 115 contractual liabilities inherited from his predecessor.
This drew Uba vitriol from El-Rufai’s son with the latter accusing the incumbent of the said financial crime, incompetence and being surrounded by yes-men.
Bashir launched the attack via a series of tweets: “These guys have realised that they are wholly incompetent and the only way to mask the nonsense is to deflect. From a Governor that is always sleeping in Abuja to a litany of incompetent aides that were only rewarded for foolish political reasons.”
His words: “The current administration in Kaduna is building a banquet hall for 7BN naira and is lamenting about debt left by the previous administration.”
“One would think that from all the FAAC allocations these unserious clowns have changed to dollars, debt would be the least of their problems.”
