The return of Mrs. Beatrice Ekweremadu, wife of former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, from a United Kingdom prison has been met with celebration.
Recall that Mrs Ekweremadu was convicted for partaking in the failed bid to harvest the kidney of a 21-year-old Lagos street trader alongsider her husband, and a medical doctor, Dr Obinna Obeta.
The convicts had lured the victim to UK to remove his kidney for onward transmission to the ex-Senate President Deputy’s daughter, Sonia who is afflicted by kidney disease.
Having served her own term, five-year-sentence, Mrs Ekweremadu returned to her immediate community, Mpu, in Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State to the waiting hands of jubilant residents on Wednesday.
Social media platforms associated with the Mpu community are not left out in the jubilee as indigenes and well-wishers dropped messages and prayers for Senator Ekweremadu’s safe return.
Some of the posts: “Daalu Ezinne! But I can’t wait until I see Ikeoha Global! The man who made me who I am politically—a builder of people and structures. New things will happen soon!”
“May God’s name be praised now and always, Amen. It can only be God.”
“Waoooi, good news! Thank you for everything. Dear mummy, you are highly, highly welcome, ma!”
