Former Secretary to the Federal Government, Babachir Lawal, has attributed the gale of defections by opposition leaders to the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the fear of President Bola Tinubu.
More recently, top politicians in the opposition have decamped to the APC, prominent among them are Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and his predecessor, Ifeanyi Okowa, both formerly of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Four other governors currently in the opposition namely: Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State, his Akwa-Ibom counterpart, Umo Eno, and that of Kano, Abba Kabir Yusuf, and Rivers, Siminalayi Fubara who is on suspension are rumoured to be on their way to the ruling party.
To the SGF under Muhammadu Buhari’s government, the ship-jumping are being made by the political leaders under duress.
“All of them are scared of Tinubu. They are afraid of what he will do to them, especially when he has the judiciary in his pocket. But we in the coalition don’t care about that,” Lawal told Punchng.
