Wife of Lagos State Governor, Dame Emmanuella Abimbola Fashola has revealed that she once had breast cancer, attributing her survival techniques to early detection and regular screening.

Fashola’s wife made this revelation at the flag off of the MTN Foundation Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign held recently in Lagos where she urged women to regularly do medical check-up, particularly mammography tests, so as to detect breast cancer early.

The first lady said: “Early detection and screening is the reason I am alive today.”

The breast cancer survivor, who joined scores of celebrities, including popular actress, Rachel Oniga, for awareness walk on Broad Street, Lagos, called on every woman to sensitize others on breast cancer as a secondary assignment, saying, “Let us tell our friends, sisters and mothers about the need to do regular breast screening, as directed by experts.”
