A banker with an Ogun State microfinance bank, Esther Hamidu, has been arrested for N1.97m fraud.
Hamidu, a Credit officer with the unnamed bank fled with the sum said to be some customers’ daily contributions between March and December 2023.
The N1.97m fraud came to light after the branch manager in Abeokuta discovered she didn’t remit the sum to the bank, and consequently the matter was taken before the police who in turn launched a manhunt for the fugitive.
The long arm of the law eventually caught up with her last Friday in Ibadan and has been moved to Ogun State Police Command, according to police sources.
