The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) said an unruly female passenger that caused the cancellation of Abuja-bound Ibom Air flight from Uyo would face prosecution.
The incident happened on Wednesday at 1730hrs.
The lady like other passengers had signed indemnity forms in which those whose luggages were above 20kg would have them come on the next flight.
The arrangement as per report, was also communicated to the passengers verbally.
But discovery that her luggage was not aboard on boarding the flight provoked her anger, as she insisted that the flight would not take off without them and shunning all entreaties.
In the video of the moment that was posted by NCAA on its X handle, her unyielding stance excited the displeasure of her co-passengers, some of whom threatened to beat her up.
The culmination was the flight cancellation, which threw some passengers into unhappiness while the Airline bore cost of lodging some in hotels for its next flight scheduled for the following day because Uyo airport is a sunset airport.
Director of Public Affairs and Consumers’ Protection of NCAA, Michael Achimugu said, the lady would have her days in court.
“The NCAA continues to educate stakeholders about unruly behaviour and the penalties it attracts.
“The regulations state firmly that no provocation justifies violence at the airport. Certain acts, especially holding up the movement of an aircraft through means of violence, could be interpreted as terrorism depending on the severity (to be determined by the police),” Achimugu stated.
