A final-year student of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, has died in a road crash that occurred after he and
some other students embarked on a motorcade parade in celebration of the completion of their final examinations.
The incident happened on Monday after the students finished their final examination and went on a car race during which the crash took place.
Report said the students drove recklessly and in the course of overtaking a moving truck, the vehicle the victim was in lost control and rammed into a stationary truck.
The crash which occurred at Ujoelen, close to the primary school, led to the death of one of the freshly graduated student while some of his colleagues sustained varying degrees of injury.
“He was reportedly part of a convoy of fresh graduates who took to the highway on Monday shortly after their signing-out activities.
“Witnesses said the group drove recklessly and failed to observe basic safety rules during the celebrations.
“The tragedy occurred when the deceased attempted to overtake a moving truck but collided with a stationary vehicle parked along the road,” NAN quoted an unnamed eyewitness as saying.
