Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has approved the first phase of payment for veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu’s medical bills after her emotional plea for help over life-saving surgeries.
The actress had appealed to Nigerians for financial assistance, revealing she needed ₦30 million to undergo three urgent surgeries after spending three weeks in hospital.
Announcing the intervention on X, the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Martins Justice, said Otti had approved part of the actress’s medical expenses.
“His Excellency @alexottiofr has just stepped in on the health issues of our Nollywood legendary actress Mrs. Ngozi Nwosu to approve the first part of her medical bills,” he wrote.
Justice, however, stressed that the governor’s support would not cover all the treatment costs and appealed to Nigerians to continue donating towards Nwosu’s recovery.
“While we sincerely appreciate His Excellency, we still appeal to kind-hearted Nigerians to please support her in any way possible,” he said.
He also thanked Otti on behalf of the creative industry, saying, “On behalf of the creative industry, we all thank you immensely, my leader. Ndewo sir.”
In a tearful Instagram video earlier reported, Nwosu disclosed that she had been bedridden in hospital for three weeks as her condition worsened.
“My people, my fans and my family… I’ve been hospitalised now for three weeks. Please, the thing has gone beyond my control,” she said.
“I need your help. Don’t let me die… I’m going through a lot, in pain.”
The veteran actress urged well-meaning Nigerians willing to support her treatment to reach out to her management.
