A Nigerian father of three, David Adediwura, has died in a tragic road crash in the United Kingdom, leaving behind a grieving wife, three children and devastated loved ones.
The fatal accident happened on Cory Wright Way, Wheathampstead, at about 9:38 p.m. BST last Wednesday, according to a GoFundMe appeal launched by his former colleague, Iretiayo Oyewole.
Describing the loss as sudden and heartbreaking, Oyewole said the death of David Adediwura had left family members, friends and colleagues in deep shock.
“David’s death was sudden, heartbreaking, and completely unexpected. News of the tragedy has left his family, friends, colleagues, and everyone who knew him struggling to come to terms with an unimaginable loss,” the appeal read.
Oyewole remembered the deceased as a hardworking and compassionate man whose kindness and generosity touched everyone around him.
“David was more than a colleague. He was a valued member of our community whose presence, kindness, and contributions touched the lives of those around him.
“He will be remembered for his warm personality, generosity, dedication to his work, and willingness to support others.”
To help the bereaved family, friends have launched a fundraiser to cover funeral and burial costs, transportation expenses and provide immediate financial support for his wife and children.
The organiser said the appeal was launched with the full knowledge and consent of Adediwura’s family, urging the public to donate, share the campaign and remember the family in their prayers.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s widow, Modinat Adebayo, has broken hearts with an emotional tribute, describing her husband’s death as the darkest moment of her life.
In a Facebook post, she revealed that they moved from Nigeria to the UK hoping to build a better future for their family, only for tragedy to shatter their dreams.
“The 22nd of July, 2026, became the darkest day of my life. You left home in search of a better future for our family, never knowing it would be your final journey. A tragic gasoline motor fire accident took you away from us, and our lives changed forever,” she wrote.
Adebayo described her late husband as her best friend, confidant, prayer partner and greatest supporter who worked tirelessly to give his family a better life.
Recalling their final conversation before the fatal crash, she said she never imagined it would be their last.
“The last conversation we had on Wednesday night will forever remain in my heart. I never imagined those would be the last words I would ever hear from you. You left without saying goodbye. Your absence has left a pain that words cannot describe.”
She said their three children, relatives and friends are struggling to cope with the painful loss of a man she described as kind, humble, hardworking and selfless.
As of the time of filing this report, the fundraising campaign had raised £795 toward its £10,000 target.
