The National Coordinator of the Oodua People’s Congress, Otunba Gani Adams is set to become the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland.
Adam’s appointment was reportedly confirmed on Sunday by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi.

“Yes, I have confirmed Otunba Gani Adams as the next Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland. He emerged out of the five aspirants that I considered for the position but I will hold a press conference where he will be formally announced. It is after this announcement that the traditional rites for his installation will start,” Alaafin told Punch.
The paper said Adam’s Personal Assistant, Mr. Segun Akanni, also confirmed his principal’s appointment on Sunday evening.
It will be recalled that the last Aare Ona Kakanfo was the late MKO Abiola, who died in detention in 1998 after he refused to trade his presidential mandate for freedom.
