Ex-first lady, Aisha Buhari, has reportedly declared that government’s decision to take over the burial of her late husband, former President Muhammadu Buhari saved her and her children from the mischief of those who wielded influence in matters concerning the deceased.
Recall that the late ex-President was given a state burial.
The frontline role played by the government on the occasion saved her and her children from the mischief of those who once had the deceased’s ear.
The statement was credited to her in the book “From Soldier to Statesman: The Legacy of Muhammadu Buhari, authored by Dr. Charles Omole.
Quoting Mrs Buhari, Omole wrote: “Those who once held the levers of access—those old uncles and agile associates—felt that their power had vanished along with the principal. They feared her and her son.”
She continued: “The state’s management of the burial logistics both stabilized the ritual and limited opportunities for mischief.”
According to the biography, the ex-first lady added that her adversaries and that of her children thought they would pay them in their own coin but she and her son, “did not come to fight.”
