A Nigerian diplomat, Habibu Almu, was found dead on Thursday at his home in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum.

Late Almu who hailed from Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State was a staff of Ministry of Foreign Affairs attached to Nigeria Embassy in Khartoum.

The circumstances surrounding Almu’s death is yet to be ascertained, according to multiple media reports.

Confirming the death of the Ahmadu Bello University graduate,  spokesperson of the deceased’s employer, Tope Elias-Fatile, in a WhatsApp message on Thursday wrote: “The Ministry has received the sad news of the untimely death of the Immigration Attache in our Mission in Khartoum, Sudan.

“We are awaiting further and detailed report from the Mission after which a statement would be issued.”

However foul play has not been ruled out as al-Arabiya television of Dubai reported that he was assassinated.

Reports on social media also corroborated the television’s report with several posts suggesting he was killed with knife.
