Former democratic presidential candidate in the United States, Hillary Clinton, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari and the Nigerian Army of killing EndSARS protesters.
The former US first lady made this claim via her verified Twitter handle, @HillaryClinton, on the heels of armed soldiers opened fire on peaceful protesters, protesting against police brutality at Lekki toll gate in Lagos on Tuesday evening.
“I’m calling on @mbuhari and the @hqnigerianarmy to stop killing young #EndSARS protesters. #StopNigeriaGovernment,” the tweet read.
Scores of protesters were killed and several injured by the military after officials of the toll gate operator, Lekki Concession Company, removed the CCTV cameras and put off the floodlights in the area to perpetrate the killings under the cover of darkness.
Footage of the scene recorded by the protest enthusiasts went viral online.
Strangely, the Nigerian Army headquarters has denied deploying soldiers to the Lekki tollgate saying in a Face Book post, “No soldiers were at the scene.”
