Bello, who represents Kaltungo/Shongom Federal Constituency of Gombe State, is a single mother.

The 47-year-old told Punch when asked how she handled advances from men: “If you go around and ask very well, you will know that I am a principled person. When I was a commissioner, I never allowed a man to visit me in my house. I discussed all official matters at the office and, after work, (I went home to my) family – nothing more.

“My route is: from my house to the National Assembly and back to my house. The other exception is to attend a political meeting or meet with my governor. If I give men that opportunity, they will abuse it. Don’t forget that I am a mother.”
