A member of Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Olawumi Fayemi-Obayelu has accused the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, of allegedly sponsoring an assassination attempt on her.

Orijoreporters earlier reported that that the House is in crisis, with rumour rife that twenty-one made a resolution to impeach the Speaker on alleged corruption grounds.

It escalated on Tuesday as Hon. Olawumi Fayemi-Obayelu alleged that she narrowly escaped assassination following her probe into alleged financial impropriety involving the leadership of the House and the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC).

Fayemi-Obayelu in her account over the phone said she had come under threat and intimidation due to her investigation into alleged bribery and corruption involving the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, and OSOPADEC.

The lawmaker representing Ilaje Constituency II, stressed that certain individuals wanted her silenced, insisting she remained steadfast while also accusing the Speaker of diverting funds meant for her constituency.

Reacting to the accusations, Oladiji dismissed it all including alleged move to impeach him and sponsorship of assassination attempt on the life of Hon. Olawumi Fayemi-Obayelu.

“I’m a law-abiding citizen… I’m a Christian, I don’t believe in all that. Let her come up with evidence to confirm such allegations,” he said.
