The Friday’s resignation of hitherto National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, from the saddle of the party, is not unconnected to claim that President Bola Tinubu has convinced the leader of New Nigeria People’s Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso to join the ruling party.
Ganduje was Kwankwaso’s deputy during the latter’s time as Kano governor.
Their relationship has long gone south as both have been at variance with each other over Kano political leadership.
That said, Tinubu, allegedly, has been wooing the NNPP founder to defect to the APC, with report saying the latter accepted the offer under the condition that Ganduje must quit the party chairmanship office.
The political romance between the president and Kwankwaso, Punchng wrote, citing unnamed sources gave disgust to Ganduje.
The immediate-past Kano governor, the report said, resigned in protest to the alliance and the imminent arrival of Kwankwaso to APC.
“He(Ganduje) has eventually resigned. We couldn’t stop him. I think there is something personal between him and Kwankwaso, who is ready to join the APC after some discussions with the President,” the publication quoted the source as saying.
