Deposed Emir of Kano, Muhammed Sanusi 11 and his successor, Aminu Bayero are related by blood and marriage.

The former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, is the grandson of Emir Sir Muhammadu Sanusi 1, who was dethroned in 1963 by Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto in a power tussle.

According to Wikipedia, the Senior Sanusi was the eldest son of Emir Abdullahi Bayero. And among his siblings was the 13th Emir, Ado Bayero, father to the newly installed monarch, Aminu.

The latter and his deposed predecessor are also related by marriage. Emir Aminu’s sister, Sadiya (nee Bayero Ado) is one of Sanusi’s four wives.

Recall that Sanusi succeeded his granduncle, Emir Ado Bayero, who is the incumbent emir’s father.
