Hundreds of Ilorin indigenes have claimed that an All Progressive Congress(APC) leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is fighting against the Muslim holy book following his opposition to the emergence of former Kwara Governor, Senator Bukola Saraki as the senate president.

Saraki had on Tuesday emerged as the Senate President of the 8th National Assembly amid strong opposition from the former Lagos governor who had a preferred candidate for the top job in the person of Senator Ahmad Lawan.

Information available to us revealed that the mantra among the indigenes in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital after Saraki’s emergence as Senate President and the continued insistence that he wouldn’t recognise Saraki as Senate President is “Tinubu is fighting Qur’an”.

Tinubu had on Tuesday at APC national secretariat in Abuja told newsmen that he would never recognised Saraki as Senate President.

He said, “I will never recognise such a kangaroo arrangement that produced Bukola as the Senate President. Or how do you want me to recognise a man who deliberately defied his own party because of his personal interest? It is not done anywhere.

“Therefore, recognising Bukola as the Senate President after all he had done to our party today, having gone against the wish and pattern of our great party, honestly will amount to endorsing impunity, and which you should all know I will not .

“For me to recognise Senator Bukola as the Senate President, he must show remorse for today’s action. He had earlier promised to defy the party and the deed has been done. You don’t do that in politics.

“Personal interest must not override that of the party that beget you. It’s a spoken and silent rule of the game, which all and sundry must abide with. “I’m not God, but as far as this party is concerned, I’m a leader and I know what is good for the party at the appropriate time.”

Famous for their proficiency in the Muslim holy book, not a few of Ilorin indigenes hero-worship the Saraki dynasty.
