A new social media platform, Golvia, founded by tech entrepreneur Izuchukwu Nwankpa, has entered the global digital space with a promise to turn online activities, content creation and social interactions into money-making opportunities for users.

The platform, unveiled on August 11, 2026, is targeting Africa’s growing digital economy, with a business model designed to allow content creators, influencers, ordinary users and small businesses to earn from their online presence.

Unlike conventional social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and X, where users largely generate engagement and advertising value for the platforms, Golvia says it wants users to share directly in the economic benefits of their activities.

The platform combines social networking, identity verification, creator monetisation and online commerce in what it describes as the Global Wheel of Social Commerce.

Golvia offers several income-generating features, including live-streaming, virtual gifts, paid engagement tasks and opportunities for creators to partner with brands.

Users can also interact through private messaging and group chats, while businesses can promote their products and services through integrated advertising and online storefronts.

Explaining the motivation behind the project, Izuchukwu Nwankpa said African creators and ordinary social media users had spent years generating value for global technology companies without receiving a fair share of the economic benefits.

He said Golvia was established to bridge the gap by providing opportunities for users to monetise their creativity, build trusted relationships and reach customers beyond their immediate locations.

The platform is also placing emphasis on identity verification amid growing concerns over fake accounts, impersonation, online fraud and other forms of digital deception.

Its verification system allows users to establish their identities, potentially making interactions and online business transactions more trustworthy.

Nwankpa said the platform had incorporated multiple revenue channels to enable creators to earn through live-streaming gifts, monetisation tasks and direct brand partnerships.

He added that small businesses could use Golvia as a digital storefront and advertising platform to reach customers locally and internationally without complicated business arrangements.

The founder also argued that the future of social media should go beyond collecting user data and generating advertising revenue, insisting that online platforms must recognise the economic value created by their users.

Since its launch, Golvia says it has attracted verified users across 14 countries in Africa, North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

The countries listed include Nigeria, Ghana, Lesotho, Kenya, South Africa, the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Italy, Germany, India and Australia.

Although designed for a global audience, the company says its central ambition is to connect African talent and businesses to international markets under its ‘Africa to the World’ vision.

Through live-streaming, virtual gifting, creator-brand partnerships and cross-border commerce, Golvia hopes to provide African entrepreneurs and content creators with more opportunities to earn from their skills and reach a wider audience.

The platform is now open for registration as it begins expanding its features across different markets. Interested users can visit https://golvia.app/ to sign up.
