Six hundred orphans in Gwaram Local Government Council in Jigawa State are set to receive cloths from the council as Sallah gifts.

The council chairman, Prof Abdurrahman Lawan, made this known on Sunday after a meeting with traditional rulers in the area.

Lawan said the council bought 100 bundles of fabric for distribution to 600 male orphans for the forthcoming Sallah celebration.

He explained that the reason for the initiative is to enable the beneficiaries to have a joyous celebration.

According to him, 100 orphans were selected from each district in the area to get the fabric, adding that the council allocated N600,000 to cover the costs of sewing the clothes.

He added that the council also distributed garments to orphan girls across the area.

“Our council has also provided 36 bags of pasta, four sacks of millet, and four sacks of maize to the 76 village heads in the domain.

“This move demonstrates the council’s dedication to supporting the most vulnerable members of their community,” he explained.
