The report that the Kano State House of Assembly is in the process to impeach the State Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, has excited response from the Assembly.
Recall that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf defected from the New Nigeria People’s Party alongside majority of the state lawmakers to the ruling All Progressives Congress while Gwarzo stays put in NNPP.
Report that emerged last week that the lawmakers had concluded arrangements to impeach the Deputy Governor has now been dismissed.
Speaking to newsmen on Saturday, Assembly’s Public Relations Officer, Kamaluddeen Shawai, said the reports was baseless and misleading.
“The reports circulating in some media outlets suggesting an attempt to impeach the Deputy Governor were intended to create unnecessary tension in the state.
“There is absolutely no motion or initiative within the House to remove the deputy governor.
“These reports are false and should be disregarded by the public. The deputy governor continues to serve in his capacity with full support from the House,” Shawai declared.
