A court in Kano has ordered a man to kill his noisy cockerel on account of a neighbour’s complaint that the chicken is constituting nuisance.
The order was handed down by Magistrate Haalima Wali on Tuesday to the owner, Mallam Yusuf.
It followed Yusuf’s neighbour complaint that the bird was robbing him of sleep due to its constant crowing.
Entering into a plea on behalf of the bird, the owner entreated that he should be allowed to wait till Good Friday day before slaughtering the accused to which Wali consented to.
The judge, however, warned Yusuf to keep to his word or face the consequences.
She also warned him against allowing it to roam the street and disturbing residents.
