The Kano State Government has sealed the shop of a popular herbal medicine dealer, Kausar Unique Empire Ltd, better known as Kausar Mai Back to Back, over alleged obscene and offensive adverts posted on social media.

The Kano State Film and Video Censorship Board announced the closure on Sunday, accusing the company of using explicit language and suggestive images to promote its traditional remedies.

In a statement signed by the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, on behalf of Chairman Abba El-Mustapha, the agency said the action followed intelligence reports and complaints from concerned members of the public.

According to the Board, its Censorship Department, which monitors herbal medicine advertisements, uncovered the alleged violations and immediately moved to seal the business premises.

The agency revealed that it had received repeated complaints about the company’s controversial style of advertising before taking action.

The Board maintained that the adverts violated regulations governing the promotion of traditional medicines and offended the moral and cultural values of Kano State.

It also issued a warning to other herbal medicine sellers, urging them to avoid indecent promotional tactics and ensure their adverts comply with government regulations and accepted ethical standards.
