Fuji king Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as Kwam 1, has brokered a fresh peace deal between National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, and Lagos State chairman of the union, Mustapha Adekunle, popularly known as Tafa Sego.
The two powerful NURTW figures finally buried the hatchet at a meeting held at Ojusagbola in Ijebu, Ogun State, in the presence of several union chieftains.
Kwam 1 announced the reconciliation on his Instagram page on Tuesday, sharing photographs from the meeting.
According to the post, the intervention was aimed at ending the long-running disagreement between the two men, who were once close allies in the Lagos transport union.
“This time, it was not just another handshake for the cameras,” the post stated, describing the meeting as a decisive attempt to end the rift.
It added that Kwam 1, in his capacity as Mayegun of Yorubaland, personally intervened to bring the two NURTW leaders together.The reconciliation comes years after the rivalry between the two men allegedly contributed to tensions within the Lagos chapter of the union.
The feud made national headlines in January 2019 when violence broke out at an APC campaign rally at the Sky Power Ground in Ikeja, Lagos.
MC Oluomo was stabbed during the chaos and subsequently hospitalised, while the police declared Sego wanted over the incident.
Despite the bitter episode, Sego later found himself within the NURTW leadership structure headed by MC Oluomo.
In September 2019, reports emerged that Sego had been appointed to the caretaker committee of the union under MC Oluomo, despite the earlier police action against him.
The power struggle within the Lagos NURTW later resurfaced, with MC Oluomo stepping down as chairman of the Lagos chapter in January 2024 amid efforts to resolve tensions surrounding the union’s leadership.
But the old rivalry appeared to resurface again in January 2026 during Kwam 1’s New Year All White Party in Lagos.
A video from the event showed members associated with Sego’s camp reacting after Kwam 1 publicly recognised MC Oluomo as the NURTW national leader.
The incident reportedly created tension at the event and prompted the Fuji star to appeal to the rival camps to close ranks.
Months later, Kwam 1 has once again stepped into the dispute — this time bringing the two men face-to-face for a fresh peace meeting.
The photographs released from Ojusagbola showed MC Oluomo and Sego together with other NURTW chieftains, signalling a renewed attempt to end their years-long disagreement.
Kwam 1’s media team declared that the latest reconciliation was final.
“After years of an age-long rift, MC Oluomo and Tafa Sego have finally settled their differences. And from what we know now, this is final,” the post said.
