The National Leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has declared January 23 as “World Betrayal Day”.

OrijoReporter recalls that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, his political son and in-law whom he was key to his emergence as governor on the platform of the NNPP on January 23 dumped the party and is on the way to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

While addressing his loyalists at his Miller Road residence in Kano, Kwankwaso in a veiled reference to the governor’s defection said he came to the conclusion of declaring the day ‘World Betrayal Day’ after some social media commentators
described Abba’s exit from NNPP as an act of betrayal.

“None caught my attention more than one who posted, suggesting that we declare January 23 annually as World Betrayal Day.

“Therefore, as the leader and grand patron of this movement, I hereby declare that I fully support the declaration,” the former governor of Kano and ex-minister stated.

He added that the day would henceforth be marked with special events to remind members of NNPP and Kwankwasiyya movement of what transpired.
