A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kwara State, has faulted the dissolution of the party’s excos in the state by Ahmed Makaefi led-National Caretaker Committee.

The party chieftain, who spoke to Orijo Reporters on condition of anonymity, described the exercise as a rape of democracy saying 11th August, 2017 when the excos was dissolve to pave the way for a new group was the darkest day of Nigeria’s democracy.

He said the dissolution of the excos by the committee despite being served with court papers was an act of desperation, adding that it was owing to alleged agreement the committee reached with some politicians, who allegedly planned to join the party.

His word, “The Kwara State Exco was duly elected into office on 10th May, 2015 in a competitive state congress organised by the National Exco of the party. This Exco has attended two National Conventions in Port-Harcourt on 21st May, 2016 and 17th August, 2017 without any issue.

“It is a known fact that the National caretaker Committee of PDP is now going about to woo former party big shots like Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Atiku Abubakar, Senator Rabiu Kwakwanso, Senator Bukola Saraki and others. It is being insinuated that one of the conditions is that the party Exco in their various state be handed over to them.

“Having sensed this move, the Chairman Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo and his Exco instructed their lawyers to file an action against the National Caretaker Committee to refrain from doing anything to disturb the statusquo.

“The court process has been served on the National Exco under the recently embattled Sen. Ahmed Makarfi since 26th July, 2017 and received by one Mr. Innocent Ezekiel, secretary to the National legal Adviser.

“Despite the service of the Court processes the National Caretaker Committee nevertheless recommended the dissolution of the Kwara State Exco.”

The chieftain called on all Kwarans to rise against the alleged unjust saying the decision of PDP National Caretaker Committee had further sent the people of the state into total darkness of abject poverty and penury.
