The possibility of some state governments refusing to pay the new minimum that would come in place has excited reaction from the organised labour.

The latter are demanding N200,000 monthly as new minimum wage for workers in view of the untold hardship the common man are facing wrought by oil subsidy removal.

As a result of the dire straits situation, Organised Labour has made the federal government to sit on a round table negotiating for workers’ salary increment among other demands to cushion the ill-effects of the oil subsidy removal.

It is like most state governments to refuse paying the minimum wage federal government agreed with the workers and thoughts that this time would not be an exception are circulation.

To the National Deputy President of the Trade Union Congress, Tommy Etim, any attempt to go that way by the state governments would face stiff opposition from the workers’ quarters.

“That is not possible. Anyways, the truth is that we have reached out to our people in the states to meet with them. Letters have also been sent to that effect,” Etim told Punchng.
