A lady and her female friend have been arrested alongside the husband to one of them for being in possession of pistol.
The incident happened in Ipaja area of Lagos and was announced by the State Police Command PRO, Benjamin Hundeyin.
Hundeyin in a tweet on his X handle said the ladies hid the pistol in a big and the ammunition was discovered during Police routine check that ordinarily would have been painted as harassment by netizens.
“See these police officers harassing two ladies, insisting on searching their bags…’ That would have been the narrative,” Hundeyin wrote.
Before he added: “After a cursory and non-intrusive look at the contents of their bags, this semi-automatic pistol was found in their possession by police officers of Ipaja Division.
“One of the ladies led the police to the owner of the firearm – her husband.
“Case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
“One less illegal firearm in circulation. #LagosPoliceNG is your friend!”
