A farmer, Musa Kalamu, has lost his life in Ogun State to attack from six stray elephants.
The incident happened on Monday at Itasin-Imobi area of the state while Kalamu and his son were on his farm.
On the elephants’ part, they escaped from the Queen Elizabeth Elephant section of the government forest reserve and strayed into the farmland where they attacked Kalamu while he was working on his farm.
A particular moment that followed the incident was caught on camera, with the clip going viral.
It comprised the body of the deceased with the narrator saying: “This is Kala, he was attacked by the elephants at Onitasin… the marks of the attack are all over his body, even his intestines are out.”
Report adds that further havoc was prevented by officers of Ogun State Forestry who were called into action and rescued the situation.
“The DPO Ogbere received information from Itasin community on 28/07/2025 at about 1620hrs that elephants escaped from government reserve and attacked one Musa Kalamu who died on the way to the hospital.
“Officers of Ogun State Forestry were contacted to curtail the animals from further damage. Calm has returned to the community,” the State Police Commissioner, Lanre Ogunlowo wrote in a statement on the incident.
