One Lilian Nwarache has killed herself in Lagos.
Lilian committed suicide by drinking a popular insecticide brand on Friday in Iwaya area of Lagos State.
The 39-year-old, according to report, took to suicide in frustration arising from a protracted ill-health that defied all efforts made by her to recover health.
It was said that she resorted to suicide after giving up hope on a church in Iwaya to cure her of the sickness, and around 2.00pm on the fateful day drank a full bottle of insecticide in the church area.
Bent on having no chance of survival, Lilian endeavoured to jump into a canal but some passers-by disallowed her.
And went on to undertake the task of rushing her to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The Lagos State Police Command confirmed this report via its Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin.
The latter in a statement said, “It was reported on Friday, around 2 pm, at the Sabo police station, that a woman, 39-year-old, with an unknown address, committed suicide.
“She had been having a protracted illness and visited a church for prayers.
“But while in the frustrating condition, she drank a full bottle of a popular brand of insecticide and was making frantic efforts to jump into the canal.
“She was prevented and rushed to the health centre Iwaya where she was confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty.
“Detectives were immediately sent to the scene. Photographs were taken, the insecticide plastic containing little content, her three passports and one Samsung phone were recovered in her small bag.”
