The Lagos chapter of the Labour Party has rubbished suggestions and conjectures of likely alliance between it and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the state governorship poll.

Labour Party won the presidential election in Lagos with 582,454 vote.

The ruling All Progressives Congress recorded 572,606 to come second, while the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, came distant third.

The shocking defeat of the APC in Lagos has sparked conjectures that an alliance between the all-conquering LP and PDP in Lagos for the governorship poll scheduled for March 11, is a surefire way to supplant the ruling party in the state.

It somehow gained traction with a leading Labour Party supporter in the state and Afenifere leader, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, who told Punchng, “We shall consider all the options before us.”

But LP spokesperson, Olubunmi Odesanya said nothing of such is being pondered by the party hierarchy in an interview with the same publication, saying, “Labour Party is not considering any alliance with PDP.”

Recall that LP candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-vivour aspired to fly PDP flag, but after his defeat and the winner, Abdul-azeez Olajide Adeniran passed him over for running mate, and chose actress, Funke Akindele, the architect-cum-activist turned to the Labour Party.
