The Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Ado Doguwa, has been charged with multiple murder and arson.
Doguwa was arrested at the point of boarding an Abuja-bound flight in Kano on Monday for allegedly having hands in the killings of three persons, and burning of the New Nigeria People Party, NNPP secretariat at Tudun Wada Local Government Area of Kano.
Fight broke out between the agents of the victorious federal lawmaker, candidate of the All Progressives Congress for Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency of Kano, and his NNPP counterparts at Dadin Kowa ward, which happens to be his ward.
The origin, according to report, NNPP agents desired the cancellation of the result over alleged over-voting to which APC countered.
It developed into fracas, with Doguwa said to have led hoodlums to attack NNPP faithful, culminating in three persons’ murder and the party’s office razing in fire raid.
The police spokesperson in the state, Abdullahi Kiyawa, said the lawmaker was arrested and charged to court alongside other accomplices following the incident.
“The lawmaker was charged with criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, causing grievous hurt, and mischief by fire, inciting disturbance,” the police spokesperson said.
