Barring last minute’s change of heart, Human rights activist and senator representing Kaduna Central Zone, Shehu Sani, is on his way out of the All Progressive Congress to an opposition party which he hope to be the flag bearer in the governorship election in the state in 2019.
Sani disclosed these to journalists in an interview at the weekend where he asserted that the intractable menace of Boko Haram and militia Fulani herdsmen would affect the political fortune of the APC during the presidential and governorship elections in many states.
The Senator hit out at the recently held local governments election in Kaduna State claiming it was a charade and its outcome didn’t represent alleged waning popularity of the ruling party.
Sani said: “It was very clear that the results of the recently-conducted local council elections in Kaduna State did not reflect what happened.
He added, “Let it be known to Governor El-Rufai that I am contesting against him in 2019 governorship election in the state. The election will not be conducted by the state electoral commission.
It will be conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and every Nigerian shall defend their votes openly.”
