A woman named, Imaobong Sampson, and her boyfriend, Beltus Ebong, have been arrested alongside their conspirator for self-kidnap.
The incident happened in Mbierebe Obio village, Ibesikpo Asutan Area of Akwa-Ibom.
The suspects who were paraded at the State Police Command on Monday, according to force’s spokesperson, Odiko Macdon, stage-managed Imaobong’s abduction in order to extort N4m from her relative in phony ransom.
Acting on a distress call, investigation by the police exposed the lie resulting in the lovers’ arrests and their accomplis while another is at large.
“She confessed to having conspired with her boyfriend, one Beltus Ebong ‘M’, Dominic Friday Charlie ‘M’, her sister, Enobong Sampson ‘F’, and Inyene Ime Akpan now at large to proclaim her kidnap in order to raise money from her aunty who is based abroad,” Macdon said.
