A 38-old-year-old man in Ibadan has been accused of luring his neighbour’s 10-year-old daughter into his bedroom and raped her.
Gafa Rasaq was said to have taken Kehinde Gbafamosi into his bedroom under the guise of sending her on an errand but removed her clothes and raped her. The victim was Rasaq’s neighbour’s daughter, Mr. Nurudeen Gbadamosi at Odo-Ona area, Shasha,
The suspect was caught in the act following Kehinde’s distress call, which drew the attentions of people within the vicinity.
Confirming Rasaq’s arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Olabisi Okuwobi-Ilobanafor, said it was unfortunate that adults still continued to take undue advantage of the minors.
Okuwobi-Ilobanafor said, “It’s an unfortunate incident, especially when an adult takes advantage of vulnerability of minors to defile them. In this case, I want to advice parents that they should try to use whatever they have to feed their children instead of leaving their children at the mercy of predators who may put on the appearance of a sheep but may end up being a wolf raping these minors.
“So parents should take care of their children, feed them very well to fend off unnecessary enticement from human-wolves. It doesn’t have to be something expensive but they should ensure that their stomach is filled. The case has been ordered to be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), after which the suspect will be charged to court,” she said.
