One Wasiu Akingbola has been arraigned for allegedly assaulting a policeman and setting a police station on fire, both at Oregun area in Ikeja, the Lagos State capital.

Akingbola was brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court sitting at Ogba last Thursday by the police.

The accused and 15 other hoodlums
belonging to the Supreme Eiye Confraternity were said to have attacked Oregun police post, and injured an officer, Inspector Eche Emmanuel who was on duty.

They according to the police prosecutor, Inspector Kokoye Olusegun, perpetrated the acts on May 29, 2023 around 3.00am in their quest to force Inspector Emmanuel to release his colleague, Kabiru to them.

The latter, a trigger-happy cop had killed one 23-year-old Idris Bakare, a resident of the area.

In detail, Olusegun told Magistrate, Mrs Sakirat Obasa that the defendant and his accomplices set the station on fire, adding that Akingbola was found out following his arrest for another offence at Alausa Police Station.

At the end, Magistrate Obasa
adjourned the case till September 25, 2023.
