A man, Abiodun Eniola, has been arrested in Ekiti State for stealing a motorcycle from a dealer under the guise of buying the bike.
Abiodun had gone to the dealer at Iworoko Ekiti posing as a prospective buyer of a motorcycle.
On that false grounds, price negotiation ensued between them, with the suspect’s request to test the bike by riding it granted.
But it turned out that Abiodun’s intention was to steal the bike as he fled with it.
Report said luck deserted him on May 10, 2025, as operatives of the Safer Highway Unit of the state Police Command apprehended him with the brand new unregistered motorcycle during a stop and search operation along Ado-Iworoko Ekiti Road.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State Command, SP Sunday Abutu, in a statement he released on the matter wrote: “Investigations revealed that the suspect went to the shop of a motorcycle dealer at Iworoko Ekiti, pretended to be a real buyer, negotiated and requested that he tested the motorcycle before buying.
“He confessed during investigations that he wanted to steal the motorcycle rather than buy it.”
