The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a masquerader simply identified as Asoleke over alleged killing of one Sefiu Kehinde.

The deceased was allegedly attacked during a masquerade procession in Labiran, Ibadan, which resulted in his death.

The police have now arrested Asoleke following the purported murder of the 24-year-old man.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Oluseyi Olayinka made this known in a statement in which it was said that Mrs. Aderemi alerted the police to the alleged murder.

Mrs Aderemi, according to Olayinka’s account was the victim’s elder sister and had told the police that Kehinde was attacked by the masquerader and his followers with axes and cutlasses while parading through the area at about 4 p.m.

“Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer at Mapo Division led a team of operatives to the scene.

“The victim was rushed to a hospital for treatment but was confirmed dead on arrival by the attending doctor,” the statement read partly.

The Police spokesperson said the crime scene was processed and documented, while photographs were taken as part of the investigation.

The command added that while Asoleke, had been arrested, four persons of interest are at large.
