One Maduabuchi Orj has dragged his family doctor, Micheal Owoicho, before a Jos Upper Area Court 1 in Plateau alleging the doctor of sleeping with his wife, Ifeoma Sharon Orji.
Owoicho, a staff of the Jos University Teaching Hospital and Medical Director (MD) of Elroi Hospital, was arraigned on Monday.
The court heard from the prosecutor, M.M. Alex that the complainant said his family doctor slept with his wife in their matrimonial home and Silk Suites Hotels located at Zaramaganda, Rayfield Road between 2015 and 2016.
According to the prosecutor, the offence was forbidden under the native law and custom of the tribe of the accused, Idoma, and was also a criminal offence, contrary to and punishable under Sections 387 and 389 of the Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria.
The accused who pleaded not guilty to the adultery charge was granted bail by the Judge of the court, Lawal Suleiman.
The judge adjourned to August 30, for further hearing.
