Ebonyi State Police Commissioner, Faleye Sunday, and his men have shared in the blame for the murder of the traditional ruler of Umuezekoha community in the Ezza North Local Government Area of the state, HRH Eze Igboke Ewa.

Suspected political hoodlums killed Eze Ewa, who was also the chairman of the Ezza North Traditional Rulers Council in his home on Monday night.

The governor said, alleged negligence of duty, bordering on not on top of security issues in the state, allegedly on the part of the State Police Commissioner and his men is to blame for the monarch’s killing.

Governor David Umahi remarked this on Tuesday in his office during a press briefing.

He said, CP Sunday and the officers under him are not proactive and would not act on intelligence, charging them to turn a new leaf.

His words, “Commissioner of Police that is newly posted here is not doing his work.

“He is just just sitting on the fence but I have warned him that he will be responsible if anything happens.

“The security agencies are not being firm; they keep quiet when these crises are growing only to claim to be doing something when the problem is full-blown.

“My advice is for them to always nip crises in the bud, not only in Ebonyi but all over Nigeria.”
