Wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Mrs. Aishat Buhari, has succeeded the wife of Sierra Leonean president, Mrs. Sia Koroma, as the head of Africa’s first ladies in a handover shrouded in secrecy.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu in an interview he granted journalists where he debunked media reports that wife of the president, Mrs. Aishat Buhari has moved into the First Lady’s office in the Aso Villa, made a passing reference to her recent appointment as head of Africa’s first ladies, a development that was jealously guarded by the presidency.

“Out of respect to Mrs. Aishat Buhari, the Sierra-Leonian First Lady, Mrs. Sia Koroma recently surrendered her position of head of Africa’s First Ladies to Mrs. Aishat Buhari, inviting her to take up the same seat which Mrs. Jonathan hurriedly handed over a few weeks to the handover of her husband’s government to President Buhari,” Shehu said.
