The Nigerian Communications Commission(NCC) has imposed a fine of N1.04 trillion on MTN Nigeria over failure to deactivate unregistered SIM cards.
Before now, the regulatory body had earlier in September, following the expiration of the deadline on SIM cards registration and order given to telecom operators to deactivate unregistered SIM cards, slammed a combined fine of N120.4 million on
MTN, Globacom, Etisalat and Airtel.
The latest fine imposed on MTN was revealed by Technology Times last night in a publication in which it said NCC accused the telecommunication giant of undermining efforts by Nigerian government to tackle insecurity by failing to deactivate unregistered SIM cards.
