Popular comedy skit maker in the north, Murja Kunya, has been arrested on her birthday in Kano allegedly for being a bad influence on society.
Last year’s September, the Sharia court applied to the Kano State Commissioner of Police, seeking the latter to arrest and investigate Miss Kunya alongside other TikTokers for ‘corrupting the morals of the society.’
Kunya was picked up by the police at Tahir Hotel in Kano for reason believed to be the Shari’a Court’s charge to the police.
“She was in the middle of organizing her birthday bash and was at Tahir Hotel to book rooms for her guests when the police arrested her,” sources said.
It remains to be seen whether charges would be pressed against her.
Recall that in November 2022, a Kano senior magistrate’s court sentenced two young men, Mubarak Isa and Nazifi Bala, to 20 strokes of cane and 30 days of community service for making a TikTok comedy skit considered an attack on governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje.
