The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abass, has warned members of the Green Chamber against selling their N160m each SUVs.

The lawmakers came under fire for proposing to procure that amount of vehicles for themselves at government’s expense at a time the very large numbers of the population is facing enormous hardship.

The insensitive 360 members have started to take delivery of the exotic and bulletproof vehicles and have been told not to trade it for money in any case by the Speaker.

This is according to Punchng citing an inside source.

“This particular Assembly is very particular about things being done right. In previous assemblies, people would collect their vehicles and sell them off, but the Speaker has put his foot down against such.

“The spokesperson was mandated to issue a statement internally to members and ensure that no member must sell their vehicles as they are National Assembly property.

“Beyond the circular, the management is seriously following up, particularly to justify the purchase, because the vehicles were bought to give lawmakers a level of autonomy from the executive,” it quoted the unnamed source as saying.
