A man, Abdulmajid Halifa Nazifi, has been arraigned before a Kano State High Court over the alleged diversion of N34.875 million meant for the purchase of spaghetti from BUA.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) brought Nazifi before Justice Musa Karaye on Wednesday to face a one-count charge of criminal misappropriation.
According to the charge, Nazifi allegedly diverted the money belonging to Fahad Balarabe Adaji between September and October 2024 in Kano.
The prosecution alleged that the N34.875 million was transferred, on the defendant’s instruction, into the First Bank account of one Muazu Abdullahi for the purchase of IRS spaghetti from BUA.
However, the money was allegedly diverted for Nazifi’s personal use instead of being used for the intended transaction.
The alleged offence contravenes Section 308 of the Kano State Penal Code Law and is punishable under Section 309 of the same law.
Nazifi pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him.
Following his plea, EFCC counsel, Mustapha Maiwada, urged the court to adjourn the case for trial and remand the defendant in a correctional facility.
Justice Karaye ordered that Nazifi be remanded in a correctional centre and adjourned the case until November 2, 2026, for further hearing.
