The latter is investigating the said monumental fraud over which it detained the National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), Halima Shehu for days with report in circulation saying the money was laundered through a contractor, James Okwete.

The EFCC had invited Umar-Farouk to come for questioning on Wednesday in respect of the fraud but she didn’t turn up.

Reports trailing her non-appearance said the ex-minister wrote the anti-graft agency attributing her absence to health problem.

The account said she asked to be given three weeks to attend to her health.

“In the letter, she pleaded that she is sick and should be allowed to attend to her death for the next three weeks, a request the commission chairman in his reply declined and gave her only three days to turn up or faces being declared wanted,” sources said.
