A viral video showing a branded vehicle belonging to popular businesswoman, Alhaja Falilat Yusuf, better known as Ero Arike, has sparked outrage in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, with some residents heard raining curses while the vehicle passed through the area.
The vehicle, which is one of the vehicles used by Ero Arike to advertise and distribute her products, was moving through the town when a crowd gathered around it. In the widely circulated clip, some people were heard expressing anger and directing curses at the businesswoman.
The reason for the reaction has not been officially confirmed, but the incident appears to have occurred amid the backlash trailing Ero Arike’s recent political involvement during the Osun State governorship election.
Ero Arike had become a major talking point during the election period after a video surfaced showing her distributing rice to residents while campaigning for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.
In the viral footage, she was seen sharing rice packs bearing APC branding and urging beneficiaries to support the party’s candidate. Reports also stated that she issued spiritual warnings against those who collected the items but failed to vote for the APC candidate, a comment that triggered widespread criticism online.
The development sparked heated debate, with some Nigerians accusing her of using food items to influence voters, while her supporters defended her political activities as part of her right to support a preferred candidate.
Following the controversy, workers linked to the Ero-Arike brand appealed to Nigerians not to boycott the company’s products because of the owner’s political stance.
The latest Ogbomoso incident has added another layer to the controversy surrounding the businesswoman, as the video continues to generate reactions across social media platforms.
