Suspended federal lawmaker, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has had her say on the June 12 celebration.

In a statement on Democracy Day, the Senator representing Kogi Central urged Nigerians to abide by the ideals of justice, equity, inclusion, and national unity, which democracy stood for.

She also paid tribute to the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Abiola, adding that democracy must yield tangible benefits beyond elections.

“June 12 stands as a symbol of our collective struggle for democratic governance.

“It is a tribute to the courage of Chief M.K.O. Abiola and the countless Nigerians—known and unknown—who stood firm to defend the sanctity of the people’s will.

“Democracy must bring real development, empower the weak, uphold the rule of law, and protect the dignity of every Nigerian,” the lawmaker urged.
