A National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA officer has caused the death of two-year-old pre-Nursery school child, simply identified as Onose, and injured the deceased’s sibling.
The toll of the tragedy landed their grieving mother in hospital.
This is according to SaharaReporters citing a source.
It said the tragic event happened on Thursday in Asaba, the Delta State capital when Onose’s mother went to pick him in school during closing hour amidst some NDLEA operatives chasing some illicit drug suspects.
The situation came to a climax when a gunshot fired at the fleeing suspects strayed into Onose’s path, culminating in his killing while the same stray bullet hit the deceased’s younger sibling in the eye.
“The bullet also hit his younger brother in one of his eyes. Surgery has been done and he is stable to the glory of God. The most painful aspect of the incident is that by Tuesday next week, little Onose will be graduating from pre-nursery class before he was killed. As we talk his mother is being hospitalised at the FMC following the killing of her son,” the unnamed source told the paper.
